Sports Performance Training in San Antonio, TX

TRAIN HARDER. COMPETE SMARTER.

This isn't personal training. Sports performance training at Puckett PT is clinically directed by Doctors of Physical Therapy, backed by advanced testing tools, and built to close the gap between “cleared by the doctor” and “ready to compete at full speed.” Whether you're coming off rehab or preventing your first injury, the program starts with data.

What You're Missing Without Objective Sports Performance Data

You're Training Without Knowing Your Weak Links

Without force plate testing, gait analysis, or strength benchmarks, you're guessing. You train hard, but you don't know which movement deficits are limiting your performance or setting you up for the next injury.

You're "Cleared" but Not Competition-Ready

A surgeon's clearance means your tissue healed, not that you're ready to cut, jump, and sprint at full load. Without return-to-sport testing and progressive sport-specific programming, athletes come back too early and get hurt again.

Your Trainer Doesn't Have Clinical Oversight

General strength and conditioning is valuable, but it can't account for movement compensations, post-injury load tolerances, or returning to specific sport demands. PT-directed performance training bridges that gap with clinical oversight built in.

I tried rehabbing and resting for months before finally giving Tim a call and a couple months after starting I already notice more progress than I ever made on my own

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the questions we hear most from athletes interested in performance training.

Is this the same as personal training?

No. Sports performance training at Puckett PT is clinically directed by a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Your program is built from objective testing data, supervised with clinical oversight, and designed to account for injury history, movement compensations, and return-to-sport demands. Personal trainers do not have that clinical scope.

Do I need to have an injury to participate?

Not at all. Many athletes come to us for prehab, preventing injury before it happens, or to improve performance and close movement deficits that are holding them back. You don't have to be hurt to benefit from PT-directed performance training.

What does a typical session look like?

Sessions begin with a review of your testing data and goals, followed by progressive sport-specific programming built around your movement screening results. You have full access to the gym and equipment. Every session is one-on-one with your Doctor of PT, not a trainer or aide.

What testing tools do you use?

We use force plates, VALD testing, isokinetic dynamometer assessment, Functional Movement Screening, running gait analysis, and Return-to-Sport Testing. For golfers, we also offer Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) assessments. All testing is interpreted by your Doctor of PT.

How is this different from what my coach or trainer does?

Your coach or trainer builds programs around performance goals. Your Doctor of PT builds programs around clinical data, including injury history, movement screens, strength asymmetries, and return-to-sport benchmarks. The two complement each other. PT-directed performance training fills the clinical gap that your coach or trainer is not trained to address.
